Questions
Frequently asked
Folks, we get hard freezes here that'll bust pipes and valves if there's any water left in the system. What's usually going on is homeowners think they can just turn off the water and call it good, but water gets trapped in low spots and valve chambers.
We use compressed air to blow out every zone completely - gets all the water out of the pipes, valves, and sprinkler heads. Before the freeze rush hits, we're usually booking winterizations three weeks out, so don't wait until December.
First thing we'd do is turn the water back on slowly and check each valve and connection for leaks - winter can shift things around. Then we test every zone to make sure all the heads are working and properly adjusted.
We'll reset your controller programming, clean or replace any clogged nozzles, and adjust spray patterns so you're not watering the sidewalk. Takes about an hour for most residential systems, and we'll walk you through any changes to the timer settings.
Nine times out of ten it shows up on your water bill first - you'll see usage jump up even when you're not watering more. What's usually going on is a cracked pipe underground or a valve that's not shutting off completely.
Look for soggy spots in the yard that stay wet, unusually green patches of grass, or areas where the ground feels spongy when you walk on it. We can run a pressure test to pinpoint exactly where the leak is without digging up your whole yard.
Yes, we're fully licensed irrigators in Texas and carry general liability and workers' comp insurance. Since 2004, we've maintained our state irrigation license and all the continuing education that goes with it.
We can show you our license and insurance certificates before we start any work. Most homeowner's insurance companies want to see proof of licensing and coverage before they'll cover any damage claims, so we always have our paperwork ready.
