Questions
Frequently asked
Most repairs run between $85-$250, depending on what's broken. A bad solenoid or valve diaphragm is usually on the lower end. If we're looking at controller replacement or multiple zone repairs, it'll be more. What's usually going on is one specific part has failed, not the whole system. We'll give you the exact cost before we start any work - no surprises when we hand you the bill.
We work on pretty much everything - Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, Irritrol, Orbit, you name it. Since 2004, we've seen just about every brand and model out there. Nine times out of ten it's the same basic components anyway: valves, controllers, and sprinkler heads. The parts might look a little different, but the repair process is the same.
Most repairs are done the same day we come out. Simple fixes like replacing a broken sprinkler head or swapping out a bad solenoid take maybe 30 minutes. Even bigger jobs like valve replacement usually wrap up in a couple hours. If we need to order a special part, we'll get there as quick as we can - typically within 2-3 days.
First thing we see is valve problems - either the solenoid burns out or the diaphragm inside tears. Wire breaks are pretty common too, especially where the wire comes up out of the ground near the valve box. Broken sprinkler heads happen a lot from mowers and foot traffic. Controller issues usually show up after power outages or lightning storms. Before the freeze rush, we also see a lot of cracked pipes from folks not winterizing properly.
Nope, you don't need to stick around. Most of our work happens outside anyway - valve boxes, sprinkler heads, underground pipes. We just need access to your yard and the controller, which is usually mounted on an outside wall. We'll call or text when we're done and let you know what we fixed. If we run into something unexpected that needs your input, we'll give you a call.
